Daniel Escobar
Voiceover Scholarship

Daniel Escobar was truly one of a kind. He lived with his whole heart and brought that same passionate energy to everything he did.

Even after almost a decade, his spirit continues to shape everything the Dojo has become. We still feel him in the way we connect, train, and grow together.

To honor that spirit, we’re offering a full voiceover training scholarship.

Keep reading to find out how this could be the beginning of your own journey.

Daniel was a

beloved student of

The V.O. Dojo.

Daniel was part of the first Mystery to Mastery (M2M) class at the Dojo.

He was my first "life coach," the first to introduce me to Abraham Hicks (no relation) and manifestation concepts.

We knew each other from
our early formative days as company members of the Open Fist Theatre Company in L.A.

On the stage, T.V. or in films, he was talented beyond compare, dedicated beyond a doubt, insightful and hilarious without fail.

Even though he dealt with so many personal issues, he could always make you laugh and was the life of the party.

When Daniel came to the Dojo many years after we had first met, the physical challenges had taken a toll.

However, his artistic spirit couldn't be stopped.

He wanted to find that thing where he could put all of his creative heart and make a consistent living.

Danny jumped into voiceover full force, as he always did.

One of the biggest challenges for him was just simply being him. Years of theatre training made it easier for him to be someone or something else.

In December of 2013, he was just coming into the home stretch of his M2M Brown Belt, he had been killing it at the VO Pro Fight Clubs, and I was getting calls from decision makers about him.

Everything was in motion and then...

...Danny wasn't at the Christmas party.

We found out a few days later that he had had a heart attack and, while in the hospital, his kidneys failed.

Danny died from the medical complications.

He was only 49 years old.

It's been

more than a decade

since then,

and I feel Daniel's heartbeat carries throughout everything the Dojo has grown into.

The unstoppable commitment, fearless examination, and sharing of personal truth, the pure, joyous fun of doing it together.

Most importantly, the diverse, original, unstoppable souls that are drawn to The V.O. Dojo.

In this spirit, we were inspired to create
The V.O. Dojo's
Daniel Escobar Voiceover Scholarship

What is it?

The Daniel-Escobar Scholarship is a fully paid scholarship that includes:

A value of $12,000

Who is it for?

We are looking for someone who is an original, committed soul who has faced challenges with an unstoppable spirit but may not have the unstoppable means to step into the power and possibility of their voice and make it into their sustained, successful voiceover career.

Do you know someone who has been powering through as an artist, ready to leave a job or situation that no longer serves them, or who is just starting on their path and wants more than just living paycheck-to-paycheck?

If this describes you or someone special in your life, please follow link below.

Thanks to everyone who applied!

About Us

About The V.O. Dojo

Inspired by the discipline of martial arts and the fun and playfulness of improv, at The V.O. Dojo we encourage voiceover artists to approach their craft fearlessly and with the wisdom of a warrior.

Unlike many other training programs, the Dojo takes a wonderfully unique and holistic approach to the business of voiceover.

We concentrate not only on formal skills and techniques, but also on the mind/body/spirit connection necessary to communicate your truth and connect with your audience, and developing the entrepreneurial spirit required to build your successful VO career.
