Ronnie Butler

Ron Butler is an LA-based actor with over a hundred film, theater, and television credits, (most notably as a regular on "True Jackson VP”), and an IFP Award winner for his work in the HBO film “Everyday People”.

In 2010 he wrote, produced, directed, and starred in the Obama musical parody "Modern U.S. President" which has millions of views, and was featured by The Huffington Post, Variety, Roger Ebert, and CNN. The exposure led to an ongoing development relationship with television great Norman Lear and producer Brent Miller, who executive produced his short film “Photographs Of Your Junk”, and continues to collaborate with Mr. Butler.

As a voice-over artist, he has narrated over 250 audiobooks to date.  His titles make “Best Of” lists every year.  He has been nominated for 14 Audie Awards (the audiobook version of the Oscar), and he’s won 19 AudioFile Magazine Earphone Awards.

Originally from the Bahamas, he grew up singing calypso onstage with his father (the country’s number one recording artist), before touring (and recording) in Europe with his own jazz band in the late 90s, The Swing Solicitors.  He has been known to impersonate Barack Obama while playing the ukulele.

The "You Should Do Audiobooks" virtual training is brought to you by....

Inspired by the discipline of martial arts and the fun and playfulness of improv, at the V.O. Dojo we encourage voiceover artists to approach their craft fearlessly and with the wisdom of a warrior.

Unlike many other training programs, the Dojo takes a wonderfully unique and holistic approach to the business of voiceover. We concentrate not only on formal skills and techniques but also on the mind/body/spirit connection necessary to communicate your truth and connect with your audience.

The V.O. Dojo is celebrating its 10th year of aligning people around the world with the power and possibility of their voice through the vehicle of voiceover.
